Blended learning & outreach
Our approach

1. Integration
Helping students reconnect with school life at their own pace. Part of a form group, blending home and school time, easing back into routines and feeling part of the school community.

2. Remote Learning
Flexible, supported learning from home or in the community, when needed. Access to lessons, resources and teacher guidance, keeping students on track with the curriculum. Enrichment & wellbeing activities create connections.

3. Creative & Social Time
Engage in art, vocational projects and small-group activities. Build confidence and connection and enjoy learning beyond the classroom.

4. Social Skills & Wellbeing
Opportunities to overcome anxiety and develop friendships. Small group or one-to-one support to strengthen social connections and coping strategies.

5. Gradual Transition
Structured steps to return to full-time school. Monitoring progress, celebrating achievements and adjusting support so students feel ready for everyday school routines.
Blended Learning Intervention Programme (BLiP)
Our school leadership understands that due to anxiety, sensory needs or emotional regulation challenges some students are temporarily unable to access full time, site-based education. For these students our specialist team of SENCo’s, teachers and therapists consider whether a Blended Learning Intervention Programme (BLiP), encompassing reasonable adjustments under the Equalities Act (2010), will support their integration, re-integration and engagement with the school and the curriculum.
BliP provisions are temporary, personalised learning pathways that enable students to access a broad range curriculum, in a way that suits their particularly needs. The programmes are agreed between the school, local authority, parents/cares and the student and are regularly reviewed to ensure they continue to be effective. The Blip programme support students to gradually re-engage with school, whilst providing the scaffolding they need to thrive academically and personally.
Examples of Blended Learning Intervention Programmes:
- Reduced hours, as part of an integration or re-integration process,
- A blend of school and home-based learning alongside therapeutic interventions, or
- A combination of virtual learning, small group social interaction with form group. All students on Blending Learning Intervention Programmes, are part of a Form Group. They know the circle of adults and their peers. This supports connection and re-integration.
All students who access our Blip and outreach programmes follow the appropriate Key Stage programme. This ensures they stay connected to school whilst receiving tailored support to meet their individual needs. They have access to a broad and engaging curriculum, delivered by qualified teachers, alongside enrichment opportunities including PE, outdoor education, wilderness activities and equine therapy. Practical work experience and creative projects complement learning, helping students build confidence, skills and resilience, all well. Maintaining a sense of community and belonging.
Our REACH programme has been carefully designed to meet the needs of students who are disengaged from education, struggle to attend consistently or find regulating their emotions very difficult. They often require intensive personalised support to rebuild confidence, develop healthy coping strategies and re-establish learning routines. Reach students are often resilient and motivated to re-engage and the programme focuses on helping them to overcome barriers, regain agency, succeed academically and develop skills for future pathways.
Our senior leadership, with the support of our SENCo’s, Safeguarding and Therapeutic teams, identify which students may benefit from the limited places in our REACH provision. Once agreed with the local authority, parents/carers and students, a bespoke programme is created. All students continue to receive a broad curriculum, from experienced teachers, Intervention Practitioners and therapists. They are very much a part of our school community.
