A message from our Proprietor, Jason Steele:

As the Proprietor and Co-founder of Raise Education & Wellbeing School, I am delighted to welcome you to our school. It is my pleasure to introduce you to the ethos, values and approaches that make our school warm, welcoming and unique.

At the heart of our school lies a steadfast commitment to invest our time, energy and passion in the future of young people. Our Leadership and Management team have created inclusive learning environments that promote the success and wellbeing of the whole school community. Our team of experienced teachers and multi-disciplinary professionals, are skilled, committed and caring; dedicated to doing their very best for all our students.

Our school community works closely with parents/carers, local authority partners and external agencies to offer our students holistic programmes of learning, personal development and therapeutic activities. This comprehensive approach is designed to empower our students at every level:

Learn, Develop and Grow

Our tailor-made curriculum equips students with the critical tools needed to succeed in all facets of life. Providing educational and personal development experiences that foster growth, resilience and a readiness for future challenges and opportunities.

Safety

Safety and trust are at the heart of everything we do. Our safeguarding culture ensures that every student feels secure, respected and valued. Strong relationships, clear boundaries and consistent support allow students to take positive risks, grow in confidence and feel truly safe to learn and grow.

Our teaching approaches, learning environments and supportive staff, nurture a sense of safety. Many of our students experience school related anxieties, our approach enables them to overcome these fears, engage with the curriculum, achieve progress and participate fully in school life.

Personal development and well-being

All our students benefit from our school wide personal development and therapeutic, trauma-informed approaches. Our teachers and specialist intervention practitioners are advised and guided by a range of in-house professionals including psychologists, psychotherapists, Speech & Language Therapist and Occupational Therapists. Our commended PSHE curriculum, promotes the health and wellbeing of every student. Through engaging, age and aptitude appropriate lessons, students develop the knowledge, confidence and resilience to make positive choices and lead healthy, fulfilling lives.

The school has developed a transformative circle of adults approach which ensures every student is supported by a small, consistent team who know them well, and whom they come to know well. The team includes their form teacher, SENCo, School social worker, teaching assistant, Intervention and Thrive practitioners. Each student has a key emotionally-available adult who co-ordinates their support, so they always know who to go to while benefiting from wider, relational connections across the school. This approach ensures students receive expert and specialist support, from a range of professionals, meeting all their needs. It encourages wider, relational connections across the school, and builds confidence and independence, preparing students for their future lives.

Joy & Engagement

Our individualised approach helps students to rediscover the joy of learning by rebuilding positive connections with school, community and themselves. Through thoughtful and detailed integration and appropriate form grouping, we support every student to re-engage with education, find their voice and take pride in their progress.

In line with the Equality Act (2010), we identify reasonable adjustments that can be made to enable each student to fully access the curriculum. Where appropriate students may benefit from our blended learning (BLiP) or outreach support (Reach). Therapeutic and enrichment activities, including time at our forest school, helps student to reconnect with education, develop a sense of belonging, experience fun and joy whilst achieving success at their own pace.

Warm regards,
Jason Steele
