Freedom to teach
Learning for life
Raise Education & Wellbeing School, a Registered Specialist Independent School and part of the Raise The Youth Foundation, provides a caring, person-centred approach, together with an exceptional blend of highly qualified professional teaching and specialist support staff.
Education Tailored to Every Student
At our school, we firmly believe that education should not be constrained by a one-size-fits-all approach. We open our doors to all children, ensuring that they are the focal point of our dedicated efforts to cater to their unique needs.
We achieve this through a collaborative process, co-designing each student’s personalised curriculum and timetable with them and their parents/carers, and significant others. This personalised plan is built upon:
- Their strengths
- Personal interests
- Aspirations for future study, work and life
Mathematical
Linguistic
Creative
Scientific
Physical
Technological
Human/social
We prioritise the acquisition of essential learning skills by providing each student with experience in the seven areas of learning:
1. Mathematical
2. Linguistic
3. Creative & Aesthetic
4. Scientific
5. Physical
6. Technological
7. Human & Social
Furthermore, it is imperative that every student develops and masters:
- Speaking and Listening
- Literacy and Numeracy Skills
Our goal is to equip every student—regardless of their needs, abilities, and learning style—with both the academic and personal skills necessary to fulfil their potential and achieve independence beyond our doors.
Ofsted insights
“The school’s curriculum is ambitious for all pupils and reflects the school’s ethos. It has been designed to help pupils to overcome their considerable barriers to learning. Curriculum subjects are suitably planned to enable pupils to complete GCSEs and other accredited awards by the time they have reached the end of Year 11. In the sixth form, students can choose from an extensive range of courses and complete GCSEs, A-levels and vocational qualifications.”
A message from our proprietor and principal, Jason Steele
As its proprietor and principal, I extend a heartfelt thank you for taking an interest in our school and our unique approach to nurturing our students and investing in the future.
If you are considering joining our vibrant school community—be it as a student, parent/carer, employee, or commissioner—the core message I wish to impart is this: Raise cares deeply about children, young people, families, and communities and will do all that is possible to promote their safety, health, happiness, and overall wellbeing.
We have unified a community of passionate, caring, highly skilled, and experienced professionals dedicated to doing our very best for our students. Our commitment is to be a school that not only promotes the wellbeing of all its stakeholders but also ensures that children and young people remain at the centre of everything we do.
“…has come on leaps and bounds over the last 18 months, yes there’s room for improvement there always is, but I’m so happy and grateful for what Raise has done for them.
They are happier at school than they’ve ever been which is great, I would like to thank everybody who has helped this become possible, I would also like to thank Kat too who has gained so much trust from … and that’s not easy at all, so again I would like to show my appreciation towards Kat.
A warm welcome for all children
Raise warmly welcomes all students with SEMH needs including those students with neurodiversity seeking a specialised education which can accommodate specific SEND needs such as autism, ASD/ASC, ADHD, dyslexia, pathological demand avoidance (PDA) and other associated needs.
We are proud to offer an aspirational and nurturing learning environment, staffed by qualified and credentialed teachers, where academic and experiential curricula are tailored to suit each student’s optimal learning style.
Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) & Admissions
While the majority of our students have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP), it is not a requirement to attend Raise Education & Wellbeing School. However, eligibility involves meeting the criteria set by your local SENDAS departments, Bolton Council Inclusion team, and/or Virtual school related to your child’s SEND needs and requirements for an education place.
Our talented multi-disciplinary team collaborates with internal and external professionals and local services, ensuring that needs and progress are continually monitored, and interventions are adapted in line with each student’s development.
